Saline Friendly Electrosurgical Probes

ProSurg, Inc. has developed a cost effective, patented , Saline Friendly for use with minimally invasive endoscopic application of Radio Frequency (R.F.) energy for tissue ablation. These electrodes may be used in either monopolar or bipolar modes.

For Monopolar and Bipolar Use.

Instructions For Use

Monopolar Saline Friendly Electrodes:

  1. Insert the Saline loop electrode into the resectoscope working element in a conventional manner.
  2. Attach the "Active" Cutting Loop electrode to the electrosurgical units via the resectoscope R.F. adaptor using the connecting cable.
  3. Attach the "Ground Pad Return Electrode" provided by the electrosurgical unit company to the patient securely. Use two ground pads for additional safety, if necessary. Attach the return electrode pad to the electrosurgical unit.
  4. Set R.F. Generator to 200 watts in"Pure Cut" in monopolar mode.
  5. For best results, using the loop electrode apply pressure to the tissue and create maximum contact with the tissue surface before delivering R.F. energy.
  6. Please note that saline is a conductive medium for R.F. energy. To avoid thermal injury, the electrode must be in contact with the tissue. Activating electrode only in saline medium will result in R.F. energy loss and can heat the saline medium.
  7. For a safe and effective operation, make sure and use an isolated R.F. Generator equipped with REM (Return Electrode Monitoring) capability and split grounding pads.

Bipolar Saline Friendly Electrodes:

  1. Insert the Saline loop electrode into the resectoscope working element in a conventional manner.
  2. Attach the "Active" Cutting Loop electrode to electrosurgical units via resectoscope R.F. adapter, using connecting cable.
  3. Attach the inflow female luer lock connector of resectoscope securely to the male luer lock of the connecting cord (Prosurg Model# SSC) Attach the other end of the connecting cable to electrosurgical unit's patient return receptacle. Plaese note that the conventional grounding pad is not required. The resectoscope sheath is used to return R.F. energy to the electrosurgical units and it works as a return electrode.
  4. Set R.F. Generator to 120 watts "Pure Cut" in monopolar mode.
Generator equipped with REM (Return Electrode Monitoring) capability.
