Mini Sling™ is a single use, sterile, urethral support device designed for in- office treatment of female Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI). The Mini Sling consists of central section of knitted mesh, manufactured from biocompatible, polypropylene monofilaments and self anchoring fixation anchors made from bioabsorbable polymer material with degradation life profile of 12-16 weeks. The urethral Mini- Sling with self anchoring fixation anchors can be delivered and secured into the Obturator Internus muscle to provide urethral support. The introducer device can be attached to thebioabsorbable anchors with ‘Quick Connect & Release’ mechanism for controlled deployment into muscle tissue, using ‘Slider Control’ mechanism. The bioabsorbable anchors, provides excellent tissue fixation means and necessary support for urethra until more permanent urethral support is developed by natural tissue fibrosis process. The Adjustable Mini –Sling is designed to provide intra-operative urethral tension adjustment by physician, to achieve optimum clinical outcome and patient’s satisfaction.
The Adjustable Mini Sling surgical approach for treatment of female stress incontinence is much safer for the patient and easier for physician to master, since it does not require insertion of long introducer needles through abdominal wall or in close proximity of pelvic body organs, critical nerves and vascular structure. The risk of accidental damage to pelvic body organs and bladder perforation is also minimized. The Mini Sling procedure also eliminates the need for additional cystoscopy procedure. The Mini Sling position and tension can be adjusted by pulling the sling at the centerline mark .The Mini Sling implantation procedure can be carried out in comfort of physician's office or in an outpatient surgery center with local or regional anesthesia. The bioabsorbable fixation anchors and the introducer tip profile are designed with ‘Quick Connect & Release’ mechanism for Controlled deployment into pelvic floor muscle tissue or fascia. The Mini-Sling can be implanted in U shape or Hammock position, based on patient’s anatomy & physician’s preference.
