Zippere™ - Mini Sling is a sterile, single use urethral support device, designed for novel, in- office treatment of female stress urinary incontinence (SUI). The Mini Sling consists of central section of knitted mesh, manufactured from biocompatible polypropylene monofilaments and self anchoring fixation end tabs made from bio absorbable polymer material. The Mini-Sling can be delivered into fibro-muscular tissue surrounding urethra via ergonomically designed introducer with straight or curved configuration. The bioabsorbable self-anchoring fixation end tabs secures the Mini Sling into fibro-muscular tissue and provide the necessary support to urethra until more permanent urethral support is developed by natural tissue fibrosis process.
Choice of Zippere™ Mini-Sling: Fixed or Adjustable?
The Zippere – Mini Sling is designed with Adjustable or Fixed self anchoring fixation means, ideally suited for physician’s preference and patient’s anatomy to achieve optimum clinical outcome. The Mini-Sling design and various fixation anchor profiles & configurations are universally compatible with both straight and curved introducer. The proprietary Adjustable Mini-Sling design allows physician to adjust the urethral sling tension with ease, just by pulling gently on the sling at the centerline. The Adjustable Mini-Sling can be adjusted up to 1.0cm length in either direction from centerline of urethra.
The Mini Sling surgical approach for treatment of female stress incontinence is much safer for patient and easier for physician to master, since it does not require insertion of long introducer needles through abdominal wall or in close proximity of critical nerves, blood vessels or body organs. As a result, the risk of accidental damage to surrounding body organs and bladder perforation is also minimized. The Mini Sling procedure also eliminates the need and cost for additional cystoscopy procedure. Furthermore, the Mini Sling can be adjusted around urethra using centerline reference color marking on the Adjustable Sling. The Mini Sling implantation procedure can be carried out in comfort of physician's office or in an outpatient surgery center with only local or regional anesthesia. The fixation anchors of the Self anchoring Mini Sling and the introducer tip profile are designed for Quick connect and Disconnect of Sling from introducer, to facilitate controlled delivery and placement of the Sling through small vaginal incision. The Self anchoring Mini Sling design and surgical procedure are safe and easy to master by a trained physician.
Additionally, the Mini Sling with adjustable or fixed anchoring means can be positioned into fibro- muscular tissue surrounding urethra, using straight or curved introducer based on patient’s anatomy and physician’s preference for optimum clinical outcome.
